Play-Doh Princess
I walked in to see L proudly wearing the Play-Doh princess crown her big sister made for her today... We will probably be washing/combing play-doh out of those curls for a while!

Bird News
We were excited to see a Pileated Woodpecker today! He was so busy eating bugs out of an old stump that he let me sneak up and take a bunch of great pictures! :) J looked him up in the bird book and she said, "it's a boy because of the extra red stripe on his face". :)

Poems K is memorizing this cold week:
Stars
How countlessly they congregate
O'er our tumultuous snow,
Which flows in shapes as tall as trees
When wintry winds do blow!--
As if with keenness for our fate,
Our faltering few steps on
To white rest, and a place of rest
Invisible at dawn,--
And yet with neither love nor hate,
Those stars like some snow-white
Minerva's snow-white marble eyes
Without the gift of sight.
O'er our tumultuous snow,
Which flows in shapes as tall as trees
When wintry winds do blow!--
As if with keenness for our fate,
Our faltering few steps on
To white rest, and a place of rest
Invisible at dawn,--
And yet with neither love nor hate,
Those stars like some snow-white
Minerva's snow-white marble eyes
Without the gift of sight.

A Patch of Old Snow
There's a patch of old snow in a corner
That I should have guessed
Was a blow-away paper the rain
Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if
Small print overspread it,
The news of a day I've forgotten --
If I ever read it.
That I should have guessed
Was a blow-away paper the rain
Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if
Small print overspread it,
The news of a day I've forgotten --
If I ever read it.

Asian themed Birthday Party:)
J decided she wanted an Asian themed birthday party for her 9th birthday this year. We got fancy chopsticks for each guest, had a noodle bar with different veggie and tofu toppings, zen trail mix, learned how to make origami birds, and made candy sushi! We decorated with our special Korean bowls and homemade paper lanterns.. What a fun birthday!
The noodles were a hit!
Presents
And silly friends!
A special gift from grandma and grandpa Bee..
Lots of friends!

Crocheting...
J decided to crochet something the other day and didn't really want much instruction... She thought she knew how to do it herself. After a couple hours she showed me her finished scarf.. Not bad for the first time! :)
